We are looking back at an amazing event finished in St. Peter Ording, Germany. First day when the riders arrived was on Saturday 21th, registration day. All the brands were getting ready for the crowds and getting their stands event-ready.
The forecast was looking promising for the first days with off-shore wind, flat water and 20 knots. However, it is mother-nature and we do not have any influence on it. The wind was less and unfortunately just barely enough for 14m kites. We had 26 hours of freestyle, including trials. Finally after 6 days waiting and trying with 14m the wind kicked in strong with on-shore winds and reaching out till 35 knots with gusts of 40knots. The trials were on and men competing with their 6 and 7m kites.
Roderick Pijls had to compete against 2 germans and after a tough and intense heat he won with a great difference. Mike Blomvall also performed good in his first heat with a win against a Mexican youngster.
The next day the wind was still on-shore and reaching the 30 knots. Big waves and choppy water were demanding all the skills of the riders. Luckily nobody got hurt and the riders gave an amazing show to all the spectators.
After having 3 days of strong winds and cloudy skies, the sky got clear and blue again with absolutely no wind and warm temperatures. The event got crazy busy again with lots of people asking to test the kites and boards.
Sunday was ‘unfortunately’ the last day of the event. We want to thank to organizers for the great event, the riders for the spectaculair show and the spectators for having a smile on their face.
