Martin Havlik – Future Kiting shaper and board designer has already made a several lines ofkiteboards that become highly evaluated in kiteboarding world. Now in 2016 FUTURE will enlarge its board portfolio by completely new wakeboard.
Martin, why have you decided to produce a wakeboard?
Kiteboarding and wakeboarding are a good complementary sports to each other. When there is wind, you go kiting. If there is no wind, then you can go to the cable. So this was one of my inspirations to start producing a wakeboard as well. Also I have a lot of knowledge of making boards and I can use this while shaping the wakeboards and this will give the opportunity to produce a wakeboard with new aspects.
Could you please tell us a little bit about the wake board development?
Bringing a new wakeboard on the market isn’t as easy as it looks. We do not want to copy a wakeboard of another brand and put a FUTURE logo on it. We always want to develop our own board with their own aspects and produce it with our best knowledge that we have as we do it with Future portfolio since we had started.
First we need to get the shape of the wakeboard. When we think we have the correct one, then we start making some prototypes for our team riders. In the case of wakeboards, Murphyis our tester as he has a lot of wakeboarding skills and he is never afraid to give his opinion and test the board to his full capacity. This is perfect, because then we can also get the chance to test the durability of the board.
In next step we incorporate all feedbacks and reproduce few more prototypes which go to final testing and evaluation. After testing the wakeboard to its full capacity we start shooting the product video and then we can start promoting the board.
