Jurre is our young talent from Netherlands. While only 13 year old, he really is on his way to pro riding. We are happy to have him in Future kiteboarding team and bring you an interview with our young gun:
What is your favourite kitespot?
Bonaire (Caribbean), nice temperature, bright flat blue water and relaxed people: I reckon it is the perfect spot.
How and why did you start kiteboarding?
My entire life I am a member of the waterspot community Zandvoort and got raised near the beach. My dad was already kiting when kiteboarding just started in the Netherlands and I got hooked. At the first stage I was standing between my dad’s legs and on his back. He taught kiteboarding me and my sister, but by now we are far ahead of him hahaha!
Which trick are you practicing at the moment? Which is your favourite one?
I work on back mobe recently. And my favourite is kiteloop – it is an amazing feeling flying through the air. It gives me an enormous kick when I land another big loop!
Since when are you kiting with FutureKiting? How did you get in touch with FUTURE?
Since KBO (juni) 2014. At the event this summer there was no wind at all. So we had already packed our gear, while it suddenly started to get a little bit windy. At that moment I asked FUTURE to borrow a board, which was completely positive and it still is.
What are you doing next to kiting?
I am still in high school, so I still need to study hard for that, but whenever there is a little bit of wind then I will be on the beach. Next to that I also play soccer, which requires a lot of trainings and competitions. But I really like to do a lot of sports.
What is your goal in kiting?
I want to become better and better all the time and in the future compete in the PKRA, which seems amazing to me. But I am enjoying every session and I hope I can keep doing this for ever together with a girlfriend and get old together.
Is there a particular kiter who inspires you?
Christiaan Zweers. Christiaan is a friend of me from Bonaire who can do the best tricks and next to that he is an amazing relaxed dude. He is always helping other kiters with practicing new tricks. I want to be that good and help everybody on the beach and eventually also inspire them to start kiting or to get better.
Do you have some motto?
Kitetricks before hot chicks!
Have you done lately some trips you would like to share?
Zomer vakantie Bonaire – an mazing cool trip with new tricks. I also competed in local competition. It is easier to learn fast new tricks at Bonaire, as the water is flat and there is stable wind. Every morning we woke up early and were continuously on the beach, 24/7 kiting with a cool group. If something wasn’t going that easy, then I would ask Christiaan if he could give me some tips. Eventually I got the chance to learn a lot of new tricks with the thanks to everyone who was pushing me and making amazing pictures. Definitely a place I want to visit more often!!
